Harvest & Tasting Notes:
The nose opens with fragrant white peach and
melon aromas. The rich mouth feel and bright acidity develops
into peach and cantaloupe flavors on the palate. The lengthy
finish is a perfect compliment to this refreshing white wine that
can be enjoyed over the next 4 years.
2011 vintage has been characterized as the vintage that tested winemakers alike throughout the Napa
Valley. Unexpected downpours in early June caused the buds of flowering vines to fall off, severely hampering fruit set. A
cold and wet spring and very mild summer did not provide enough heat to relieve grape growers of their early season woes,
with many vineyards losing up to half of their normal crop. Late rain in October triggered the onset of botrytis (noble rot)
in many vineyards, causing even more crop loss before harvest. All things said, however, the Bordeaux-like vintage looks to
produce some interesting wines of great character for earlier-ripening varietals like Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet
Franc. Expect a much higher percentage of blending varietals for Cabernet Sauvignon wines and some of the lowest alcohol
levels seen in a very long time.
